Decontamination and Quality Assurance of Carpets After Insect Infestation. A Comprehensive and Successful Assignment

We were tasked with handling a shipment containing various types of carpets, where the container had been infested by insects. Inside the container, large quantities of insect eggs were discovered, placing high demands on precision, hygiene, and handling to protect both the products and the supply chain.

The carpets were wrapped in plastic, but were not loaded on pallets, they were lying loose on the container floor. Our assignment involved several stages:

  • Transferring the carpets from the container to a refrigerated container
  • Cooling to –20°C for seven days to eliminate the eggs
  • Unloading from the refrigerated container
  • Dehumidifying the carpets to prevent damage from the condensation after freezing
  • Ozone treatment for additional disinfection and odor removal
  • Removal of plastic wrapping, unrolling, and visual inspection for egg residue or damage
  • Inspection and replacement of damaged labels
  • Sorting, palletizing, and packing according to the customer’s specific guidelines
  • Delivery of finished, quality-assured carpets

This assignment demonstrates our ability to handle goods with high hygiene and quality requirements.

We offer practical problem-solving, sustainable handling, and social value, all in one streamlined process.
